Horizon zero dawn map symbols1/29/2024 Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Frozen Wilds ReviewĪs GAIA states that many machine designs are based off of extinct megafauna, it is possible that a Longleg's chassis is based off a phorusrhacid (terror bird). Aloy encountered them as guards around one of HEPHAESTUS’ Control Towers, as well as inside the ancient Firebreak facility as part of a three-person expedition to HEPHAESTUS’ R&D cauldron, EPSILON. The Longlegs in The Cut are augmented by HEPHAESTUS, and are known as Daemonic Longlegs. Outside the Sundom, she encountered two Longlegs in the Cut. She also sold a Longleg Lens to the Carja trader Ranin. She encountered them patrolling the approach to the Tallneck deployed at the location in The Jewel known as the Spearshafts. She usually saw them guarding Zero Dawn terraformer herds or walking in machine convoys. The Nora huntress Aloy saw Longlegs mainly at sites scattered throughout the Carja Sundom. He also had a number of them chained at his camp, likely for further experimentation and for security. The Oseram warlord Dervahl created a sonic weapon from a modified Longleg head and concussion sac, mimicking the machine's sonic blasts. It is unclear whether it is a variation of a pre-Derangement machine or something new altogether. They were presumably created by HEPHAESTUS upon deciding that it needed a recon machine that was combat-capable and much more dangerous to humans than Watchers. It's on the coast of the main island, just off a beach.Like all combat-capable machines, Longlegs began appearing after the onset of the Derangement. If you can locate Thornmarsh just travel southeast. It's about as southwest of the map as possible (excluding San Francisco). Oh, and also, there's a pretty tough boss at the end.Ĭauldron CHI is far south on the map, in and among the jungle area. It can feel a lot of busywork, but there's some fun puzzle solving around how to get the battery back to where it needs to be. You need to leave the area to locate the battery, and even once you find it, you need to escort it back to the core. Eventually, you'll find the core you need, but you're not done. This will require using your Pullcaster a lot to force out nodes to make climbing routes. The main crux of this cauldron is you need to power it up again. There's a small cave opening you can jump into. In order to find the 'real' entrance, head around the cliff face to your right. You'll notice you can't get into the cauldron as the energy barrier won't let you through the main entrance. You're going to have to navigate this large area, but there's a lot of manual work to be done in here. This cauldron has largely broken down and is falling apart, bit by bit. If you need further clarification, it’s just east of the circular lake at the top of the map.Ĭauldron CHI has seen better days. It’s a little northeast of Salt Bite or directly north of Stalding Spear. To get there, it's about as middle north of the map as you can get. Not a lot of main story missions take place in the area so it can be a little tough to locate. If you were wondering where the last one was on your minimap, you found it. The bonus to finishing this cauldron is that it also opens up a Tallneck to override. This, as ever, will involve killing some creatures and platforming in order to free the machinery assembling the towering robo-giraffe. Your job to complete this Cauldron is to try and rebuild the Tallneck. Once there, you’ll find that a Tallneck is being built but machinery has become jammed. At the end of the rock formation, you'll find a way in. In order to get in, look for a small crevice to the south of the platform. You’ll notice that the entrance is flat on the ground and you can’t enter.
